2023 Infographic: Trouble on Four (or More) Wheels

Continuing our focus on the Wildland Fire Lessons Learned Center’s (LLC) 2023 Year End Infographic, today we are looking at the 10 UTV incidents and 12 vehicle accidents reported to us last calendar year.

These incidents occurred in all phases of wildland fire management response: during travel, in initial attack, on prescribed fires, and during extended attack.

For a further discussion of the lesson “Have a Fire Extinguisher,” check out the November 2023 Data Points, which looks at 10 years of UTV fires.

Lessons abound from these incidents, as you will see if you dig through the links listed below. This year we chose to highlight the hazard of driving while fatigued.
